MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person is dead after police say they were hit by two cars while walking in Northeast Memphis Monday night.
Officers say around 9:15 p.m., they were called to the scene of a fatal crash in front of the 2700 block of Kirby Whitten Parkway just south of Summer Avenue.
A pedestrian and a witness were allegedly crossing the street at a spot without a marked crosswalk.
A Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound and merging into the turning lane of Kirby Whitten Parkway when police say it hit the pedestrian with the left front bumper, hood, and windshield of the car.
That is when the pedestrian came to rest in the far left lane southbound of Kirby Whitten Parkway. Police say the pedestrian was then hit by a Toyota Highlander that was traveling southbound on Kirby Whitten Parkway.
Bartlett Fire Department paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead on the scene.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
