MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man suspected of shooting a woman to death at an Amazon Warehouse in Mississippi has been shot to death by officers on I-40.

According to TBI, around 3 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle linked to a suspect wanted in the deadly shooting at an Amazon Warehouse in Horn Lake.

An incident was reported at 3:20 p.m. on I-40 and Whitten. According to Memphis Police, officers were conducting a traffic stop in the area.

The driver, later identified as Corey D. Brewer, they were pulling over was named as a suspect in the shooting.

TBI said officers got out of their vehicles and repeatedly told Brewer to get out of the car. According to preliminary information from the scene, Brewer fired shots and officers returned fire, striking Brewer.

Brewer was pronounced dead on the scene.

The TBI is not saying how many shots were fired by the suspect or how many officers fired their weapons. Memphis Police said no officers were injured in the shooting.

Police said Brewer and the victim, identified as 44-year-old Ebony Crockett, knew each other through employment at Amazon.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office has requested that agents investigate the scene.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said the eastbound exit lane, left shoulder, and right shoulder were blocked as authorities investigated.
