MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A murder suspect is behind bars Monday after a police pursuit that ended at a Memphis church.

Police said Keishun Smith, 21, is facing a slew of charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder, and reckless driving, after a deadly double shooting on Tangle Oaks Drive Sunday night.

According to police, Smith went to a home in the 5700 block of Tangle Oaks Drive. Three kids were in the home.

Reports state two men were shot. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition.

The children and one of the victims had to lock themselves in a room for protection.

Jasmine Hill was driving on Mount Moriah with her mother when she says Smith, who was allegedly in a silver car, flew by.

“I looked out of my window and saw the suspect and right on his tail was the first police car and then right after that, maybe not even point five seconds, the rest of the police cars started zooming by,” she said.

She shared video of nearly a dozen cars speeding by, trying to close in on Smith.

“Had to be over 100 mph because I could feel the wind of the my car just shaking as the cars were zooming past,” Hill said.

Around 2 p.m., the chase came to an end when the silver Nissan crashed into a pole in the parking lot of Ridgeway Assembly of God on Ridgeway Road. Investigators said they stopped the car by deploying spike strips.

A witness nearby said the suspect crashed and then got out and ran.

One person was seen taken away in an ambulance, with a police vehicle escorting the ambulance.

Smith is also facing additional charges, including evading arrest, use of firearm in commission of a dangerous felony, and four counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.
