MEMPHIS, Tenn. — This weekend marks one year since nine people were shot, with two dead, at a block party in Orange Mound.

Memphis Police have a message in that case, saying while they don’t have new developments to share, the investigation remains active, and they are asking for the community’s continued help.

Police say the violence erupted at a block party where hundreds of people were in attendance. There was not a permit for the party.

A 17-year-old boy and 22-year-old man were killed in that shooting.

Since the incident, police did make arrests for those seen driving recklessly on video posted to social media.

Sunday, Memphis Police said a $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a warrant or arrest of those involved.

Police Chief C.J Davis said, “last year’s incident shows how quickly violence can escalate, especially when weapons are involved. We need the community’s partnership to prevent further tragedies.”

She also urged people to make sure they have a permit for events of 25 people or more, urging people to always report anything they think could be suspicious, saying “early intervention is key.”
