7 shot, 2 dead outside Prive restaurant

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say two people were killed and five others wounded in a shooting Wednesday night at a restaurant with ties to rapper Yo Gotti.

According to reports, the shooting happened at Prive, located at the corner of Winchester and Riverdale, a little after closing. Two male victims were found on the scene. One was pronounced dead, the other was taken to Regional One, where he later died.

Five additional victims, four males and a female, arrived at hospitals by private vehicles. The males were ages 37, 35, 31 and 30. The female was 25 years old. Officials say the shooting stemmed from an altercation inside the establishment.

When WREG arrived on the scene, we noticed a pickup truck that appeared to have a large bullet hole in the driver’s side window.

The restaurant, which Yo Gotti purchased for his mother, was entirely roped off by police. In addition to investigators, there were a number of people stopping by– some of them crying.

WREG talked to Arthur Horne, the owners’ lawyer, who said they are devastated. “On behalf of Prive, they’ve been in business for ten years, and nothing like this has ever happened at their establishment,” he said.

Horne said there was an altercation between two groups of men, though he said it did not occur inside the restaurant as stated by authorities. “It happened out in the parking lot, and it ended up in a shootout. Nothing happened inside the restaurant. Despite any conflicting reports, they were closing, and this happened at the end of the evening in the parking lot.”

The owners would also like to extend their condolences to the families of the victims.

Police are still working to track down those responsible for the shooting. If you know anything that could help detectives, call Crimestoppers at 901-528-2274.
