MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies are conducting a death investigation after a woman’s body was found in a pond.
SCSO traffic investigators were on scene at Grays Hollow Drive S and Grays Mill Drive off Walnut Grove Road in east Shelby County, where at about 8 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a call saying that a vehicle was seen partially submerged and actively sinking in a body of water near this location.
Shelby County Fire Department personnel took a boat into the large retention pond and found an object submerged in the water.
The SCSO Search and Rescue unit and Diving Team searched the pond, and they located a vehicle, which was pulled out of the water at about 3 a.m.
Inside the vehicle, investigators discovered the body of an adult female.
No signs of foul play are suspected.
However, the official cause of death has yet to be determined by the medical examiner.
