MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 79-year-old man was shot at a park in Westwood while he was exercising early Tuesday morning.

Police say they responded to the shooting in Westwood Park on 810 Western Park Drive at 5:40 a.m. where they located an injured man.

Family members said the 79-year-old victim was exercising along the walking trail. Police said one person was walking with the man when they noticed three to four suspects.

Two of the suspects waited for the victims to pass them by hiding behind the wall, while a third suspect pretended to be exercising on the basketball court nearby, police said.

The victims passed the court, two of the suspects opened fire, striking one of the victims in the back.

The male victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Friday morning, Memphis Police released surveillance video and pictures of the possible suspects. Several of the pictures show a closer look at an armed man.
