Officers were called to a home in the 4800 block of Fairley Road regarding the shooting around 4 a.m. Two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds in the driveway.
It all started when police say a man wearing a ski mask and dark clothing walked up to the two men while they were talking and started shooting at them.
Police say the suspect then left the scene on foot, going northbound toward Shelby Drive.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

“From my understanding that the two gentlemen that was in the driveway talking at this time in the morning, and the guy just walked up to them, didn’t say if they knew him or not,” said Col. Carlos Davis, Memphis Police Department. “But once investigators actually get to talking with the one victim when he’s able to talk, I’m sure to find out more information.”
At this time, as Memphis Police work to collect more evidence, they are asking anyone in the area to check their cameras for footage. Anyone with video footage can upload their videos here.
Memphis police are investigating whether the suspect and victims knew each other.
“Our people need help out here. The drugs, the violence, the guns. It all got to stop,” said a Whitehaven resident.
