MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in custody after police say he shot and killed a man after a car accident escalated into a fight last month in North Memphis.
Monterio Lyons, 25, is charged with first-degree murder. He is currently in jail with no bond set.

On December 6 at 7:10 p.m., officers say they responded to a shooting call that took place on the scene of a car accident on North Hollywood Street.
MPD says a man named Jermane Greer had arrived at the scene to check on his family members who were involved in the wreck.
Shortly afterward, a fight broke out between the family members of the people involved in the accident. One of the people fighting was a minor, police say.
After the fight was broken up, Greer was fatally shot several times in the upper torso by the man he was fighting, later identified as Monterio Lyons, police say.
During the investigation, police say it was determined that Lyons was the brother of one of the people involved in the accident.
Another man who was helping Greer fight was able to positively identify Lyons in a photo lineup as the man responsible for the fatal shooting, reports state.
Investigators say Lyons’ mom was on the scene of the shooting. She stated Lyons was also on the scene, but she did not see him shoot Greer.
Monterio Lyons is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.
