Teen dies after drive-by shooting in Midtown

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 17-year-old who was shot during a drive-by shooting in Midtown has died, according to the Memphis Police Department.

On February 1 at around 3 p.m., the Central High School student was shot while inside his car at the Kimbrough Towers apartment complex.


He had just left school.

The suspect reportedly pulled up beside the victim’s car and began firing shots. Two other teens were in the car with the victim during that time, but they were not injured.

Employees of Kimbrough Towers helped the victim after the shooting, according to reports.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died due to his injuries.

MPD says this was a “targeted” drive-by shooting. Police also say the suspect left going toward Union Avenue in a black four-door sedan.
