MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people were stabbed during a fight that led to a shooting near the airport area Sunday.

MPD responded to the incident on the 5400 block of Sputnik Drive around 2:00 a.m. Sunday after an altercation between neighbors.

Reports stated Shawanda Rayford got into a fight with Tyrone Willis and his family. She says her daughter and boyfriend joined in and that’s when she, her daughter, and boyfriend were stabbed.

Rayford’s boyfriend was stabbed in the face, shoulder, and right arm.

They are expected to be ok. However, MPD says there’s far more to this story.

As both families walked back to their homes, court documents say both Willis and Rayford fired shots at each other’s houses.

No one was hit.

Police initially detained seven people on the scene. After interviewing witnesses, MPD ended up charging Rayford and Willis with aggravated assault.

Both Willis and Rayford are being held on $20,000 bonds.
