MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people were shot, and one died in Whitehaven early Thursday.
According to Memphis Police, a little before 1 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 100 block of North Wesley Oaks Circle. Three male victims were found and taken to Regional One Health in critical condition.
One of the victims died from his injuries, police say. The victim’s mother told WREG her son was 23 years old.
“I don’t know. I just know he got shot multiple times,” she said. “Just turned 23. Oh, I’m so hurt.”
The mother is begging for an end to the violence, saying she has now lost two children.
“This is my second son that got murdered in less than a year,” she said.
Delvin Lane with 901 Bloc Squad, a group trying to curb gun violence, said he and his team worked overnight on multiple shootings. He said their goal is to stop retaliatory violence from happening.
“Once people are shot, a lot of people are in an uproar, and we want to calm the nerves of family members and the community,” said Lane.
Police say the suspects were in a black Infiniti. Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-2274.
