UPDATE: According to TBI, a man has been charged following the officer-involved shooting incident.
TBI stated, “Early Friday morning, agents secured warrants charging the man, Charles Williams II with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault. Williams remains hospitalized and will be booked into the Shelby County Jail upon his release.
12:30 UPDATE: MPD says one officer has been treated and released. The other officer remains in the hospital in stable condition.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — There is a large police presence outside the Regional One Medical Center after two officers were shot in the Whitehaven area Thursday night.
Memphis Police say officers responded to an armed party call at a convenience store in the 1200 block of East Raines Road at 7:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they encountered an armed male suspect.
According to MPD Chief CJ Davis, the suspect shot an officer at close range.
Davis said one officer was shot twice and another officer was shot once. The suspect was also shot three times. All three were taken to Regional One in critical but stable condition.

Police have blocked off East Raines between Airways and Elvis Presley as officers investigate.
One witness told WREG she was driving through the area when she heard several gunshots.
Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner expressed his support for MPD and the injured officers, saying, “I was deeply troubled upon hearing the news that two Memphis police officers suffered serious injuries during a shooting incident tonight in Whitehaven. I am praying for these officers and their families. I urge all to offer their prayers and support.”
Mayor Jim Strickland spoke about the incident, saying, “I am thankful that there was not a loss of life in this incident and grateful for the service of the officers. The rise of gun violence must stop, and we must all commit to zero tolerance for these senseless actions.”
The ATF Nashville Field Division along with Memphis Field Office Agents are on their way to assist the Memphis Police Department. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is also on its way to the scene.
The bureau says that once it’s done collecting evidence, it will turn the findings over to the district attorney’s office.
