MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two 17-year-olds are accused of dragging a customer out of a Binghampton convenience store and robbing him of his belongings at gunpoint.
It happened Thursday night at the Summer Grocery in the 3000 block of Summer Avenue.
The victim said he was at the checkout counter when someone put a gun to his back and told him to give them everything. The victim refused and was forced outside by the gunman and three others who were also armed.
Police said after a struggle, the suspects stole the man’s wallet and cell phone. They said a woman with the victim ran to the back of the store and dropped her cash and Chime card, and the suspects took those items.
Officers looked at the store’s surveillance video, recognized one of the suspects and their vehicle, and went to a house about a half mile away on Given. Police said they located the car and saw several males make a run for it.
After a short foot chase, police said, they took two 17-year-old males into custody, including one seen in the store’s video pointing a long rifle at the victim’s back. MPD said they also found a stolen trailer and several stolen weapons at the home.
One officer was treated on the scene for a minor injury.
Both teens were charged with aggravated robbery, prohibited weapons, evading arrest, and resisting official detention. Police are still looking for the other two suspects.

A week ago, a man was shot outside Summer Grocery. Police said Larry Brown, 46, drove through the parking lot and fired several shots into a car, hitting a man in the leg. Brown is locked up on numerous charges connected to several other cases.
The city’s data hub website shows since the first of the year, nearly twenty other crimes have been reported around the business, including several aggravated assaults, thefts, and drug and weapons violations.
