MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has been shot multiple times in Southaven after tracking down his stolen Dodge Charger and confronting the alleged suspects early this morning.

According to Southaven Police, the victim’s 2021 Charger was stolen from a home in the Stone Creek subdivision around 6 a.m. The victim was able to track the car to The Lux Apartments, a few blocks from their residence.

Once at the complex, the victim tried to get the car back. Investigators said when he tried to retrieve his vehicle he was confronted 4 suspects. He was then shot 4 to 5 times.

The victim’s family says he is expected to make a full recovery. “I’m kind of torn a little.. you hate to see bad things happen to good people,” Frederick Key, the victim’s brother-in-law said. “We have a great relationship and I just hate to see him in this situation right now.”

Police say the victim went to Baptist Memorial and was then transferred to Regional One for surgery.

The Southaven Police Department is urging victims to not confront criminals and to alert them first.
