MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are looking for teens who robbed a woman and 11-year-old boy at gunpoint near Central and Cooper Thursday night.
The whole thing was caught on camera in a parking lot across the street from Railgarten.
The father of the young victim said his son went to Railgarten to hear his band play and was with a family friend when they were targeted by thieves.
“I’m telling you we were at an all-time high,” he said. “It was really a great night.”

In the video, you can see the woman and boy walk toward a minivan and start to get inside when a small silver sedan pulls up in front of them, and two people with guns jump out and run toward them. A third person stayed behind in the driver’s seat.
“They put a gun to his temple,” said the boy’s father. “They put like a smaller or what he would consider a 9mm or something like that. He told the officer he didn’t know if it was green or black. They had an AK pointed at her.”
The woman said one of the robbers told her to get out of the car or they would shoot her.
“They were trying to steal the car, and they were grabbing her try to pull her out of the car, knowing there was an 11-year-old there,” said the boy’s dad. “She held on to his hand, and she was screaming and honking the horn, and he was just saying, I don’t want to get shot. I want my momma.”
The thieves didn’t take the vehicle but left with the woman’s keys, house key, wallet, cash, several credit cards, iPhone, and a St. Jude phone charger.
The boy’s father and lifelong Memphian said he’s angry this is all happening in the city he loves so much.
“I think people who leave because of this very thing, I just thought they weren’t here to fight it,” he said. “Until it happens to you, you never even think about leaving.”
