MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis-Shelby County Schools has confirmed a case of whooping cough at Grahamwood Elementary School.
MSCS said it is the only known case at the school. The department is providing parents with guidance on care and treatment, and will monitor the situation.
Whooping couch, or pertussis, shows up like a cold in its early form but can develop into uncontrollable coughing fits, the Centers for Disease Control says.
