MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman accused of shooting a young mom in the head in front of her kids two years ago is being held on a $200,00 bond.

Monday, a bond hearing was continued for Briana Gilmore, 22, who was booked in the Shelby County Jail last week for attempted first-degree murder.

Police said Gilmore shot a woman at the Hillview Village Apartment in March of 2022.

Investigators said when officers arrived in the 2500 block of West Hillview Drive, they found the victim lying on the ground behind a white Chevy Malibu with an apparent gunshot wound to the right side of her head.

The victim’s three young children, all under the age of five, were inside the Malibu.

Witnesses said they saw the victim fighting with another woman, heard a single gunshot, and saw the victim fall to the ground.

The mom survived her injuries and days later identified Gilmore as the shooter. It’s unclear why it took so long to bring Gilmore into custody.

Gilmore is also charged with three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

Gilmore is scheduled to be back in court on Wednesday.
