Woman charged with threatening to shoot children

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is behind bars after threatening another woman and her children at a South Memphis apartment complex.

Dianna Briwder says her downstairs neighbor has been tormenting her family for a year after an incident involving another tenant.

Police say Monday the situation came to head when 40-year-old Quantessa Hutchinson pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot Briwder, her pregnant daughter and son during a verbal altercation.

According to the police report, Hutchinson repeatedly said “I’ll kill you.”

Investigators say the suspect had a party over the weekend and the victim overheard her name calling. Monday, the two started arguing.

Briwder said she wanted to the Hutchinson to put the gun down and fight but instead she kept pointing her handgun.

“It’s horrible. Don’t know whether it’s going to be bullets coming through the door or from door stairs to upstairs,” Briwder said.

Hutchinson told police she pulled her gun because she felt threatened for her life.

Police made it to the scene, detained Hutchinson, and found her to be in possession of a Glock 9mm.

We dropped by her home since court records show she bonded out of jail, but no one came to the door.

Briwder said they are both now being evicted for the incident.

We dropped by the leasing office and emailed owner Odin Properties based in Philadelphia for answers, but have yet to hear back.

In the meantime, Briwder said she’s counting her blessings Hutchinson didn’t pull the trigger, but will soon have no place to call home.

“I haven’t stopped crying. It hurts for the apartment complex to put me out as well. Its not fair,” she said.

Briwder told me she just paid her $500 April rent, but was told if she did this interview, she would have to leave in 3 days. We have yet to hear back from the property owner.

Hutchinson has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 5.
