UPDATE: The victim, identified as 28-year-old Marquicha Thomas, did not survive her injuries, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Thursday.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office identified Byron Pipkin, 33, as the suspect after he barricaded himself in a South Memphis hotel Friday afternoon. He has been charged with first-degree murder, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, domestic assault-bodily harm, and existing warrants.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman has died after she was reportedly shot at a home in Cordova Thursday.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened on Cross Wood Lane near Cross Hill Drive. Deputies responded to the scene at around 11:45 a.m.
The sheriff’s office said the woman went to the hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced deceased. Detectives have identified her as 28-year-old Marquicha Thomas.
The sheriff’s office also said initial information suggests the shooting stemmed from domestic violence.
