Newest suspect in Young Dolph murder case makes first court appearance

Jermarcus Johnson

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The fourth suspect accused in the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph made his first court appearance on Tuesday.

Jermarcus Johnson was arrested Friday and faces a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

“If you are convicted that offense carries anywhere between 15 and 60 years in prison,” Judge Coffee said during court on Tuesday.

Judge Lee Coffee gave Johnson more time to find a lawyer after the suspect said that his family is still looking to hire one.

Out of the four suspects arrested in Dolph’s murder, Jermarcus is the only one to have a bond, which has been set at $300,000.

Prosecutors say Johnson helped another suspect hideout after the shooting and was involved in the transfer of money paid for the killing.

Other suspects include Hernandez Govan, who is accused of ordering the hit, and Cornelius Smith and Justin Johnson who are accused of carrying the hit out.

All four suspects remain in jail.
