Lotto Ticket Buyers Target East Memphis Store

(Memphis) Shkib Ali is the manager at Quince Mini Mart at the intersection of Quince and Perkins in Memphis.

Customers coming in to buy tickets have been non-stop since they sold a $1 million Powerball ticket nearly two weeks ago.

“It’s great for our business, everybody is coming, and they are driving 20 minutes, 40 minutes. They check internet and they come in,” said Ali.

Fifty-five-year-old Kenneth Lane hit it big when he bought the $1 million dollar ticket from the Quince Mini Mart.

And it couldn’t have come at a better time for the man who is unemployed, on food stamps and living with his mom.

Lane was the fifth Powerball winner to win more than $1 million so far this year in Tennessee.

There were also big winners in Nashville, Chattanooga, Mt. Juliet and Jackson.

Ali said he wants to partake in the fun but he can’t.

“They’re going to fire me if you play here,” said Ali.
