LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Little Rock Police Department K9 Officer died in the line of duty this week.
According to THV11, Officer Titus and his comrades were chasing a man wanted for breaking into a vehicle on Tuesday.
When they found suspect, officers were forced to release Titus after the man continued to resist arrest.
Thanks to the brave K9, the suspect was taken into custody.
However, later that day Titus began showing signs of heat distress and was rushed to the Briarwood Animal Hospital.
Officials with the Little Rock Police Department said the veteran failed to respond to treatment and later died.
They said Titus was a crucial part of their team for three years and was assigned to the Downtown Divisions’ 1500-2300 watch.
He had many arrests under his collar and will be greatly missed by his fellow officers and the community.
