MEMPHIS, Tenn.  — A Memphis driver said a case of road rage got out of hand Thursday when a driver chased him and fired several shots at his Jeep.

Robert Sims said his two-year-old nephew was strapped in the back seat of his SUV when it happened.

Sims said he was driving on Cottonwood, near Getwell, in Southeast Memphis when the driver of a black Ford Expedition nearly hit him head on, but swerved at the last second.

Sims said he yelled out his window at the driver and that’s when the driver turned around, pulled out a gun and started shooting at him.

“I  thought he was crazy for one because it’s not that serious. You are the one who was in the wrong. I wasn’t in the wrong so why were you shooting at me and chasing me,” said Sims.

Sims said the driver chased him nearly three miles until he was able to flag down an officer.

Police said they located that driver, 25-year-old Adrian Nichelson, and his SUV at a vacant house in the 3000 block of Freemile.

They also found a 40 caliber handgun in a crawl space of the house.

Nichelson was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
