MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A South Memphis man is locked up and accused of paying a 13-year-old to have sex with him.
Police said 22-year-old Marcus Yancey didn’t stop there. He’s also accused of drugging and choking the girl.
The girl told police she didn’t know the man, and he offered her $45 to have sex.
According to the affidavit, Yancey took her back to his place in Foote Homes last week, and later drugged her with so much Xanax she passed out.
It went out to read the teen woke up and tried to go home, but Yancey “placed his hand around her neck and squeezed, telling her that she could not leave.”
Police said Yancey’s buddy yanked him off the teen and got in touch with the girl’s family.
She was taken to Le Bonheur, apparently still high, with bruises wrapped around her neck.
“That’s sad to me,” Daniel Brown, who lives nearby, said.
Neighbors are disturbed asking why a 22-year-old would prey on someone so young.
“He should have known her age. That’s like a pedophile in my opinion,” Brown said.
It took police about a week to catch Yancey.
He was sitting in jail for a list of charges, including sex trafficking, drugs and aggravated assault, Tuesday night.
No one answered the door when we went to his apartment, which was just a couple blocks from a catholic elementary school.
People in his building did not want to talk either claiming they know nothing about Yancey or the little girl he allegedly brought home.
Yancey is being held on a $250,000 bond.
He’s been in trouble with the law before. He was convicted of a felony theft charge last year.
He’s due in court March 31.
