MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For the second time in three years, 32-year-old Reginald Logan is facing charges related to revenge porn.
Police records show a woman accused him of uploading a video of her performing oral sex to a porn website.
The post also included the woman’s name, phone number and address and advertised she’d perform oral sex for $10.
The victim told police the video was recorded without her knowledge. So Logan is facing charges for photographing without consent.
And it’s not the first time.
In 2015, Logan was charged with violating an order of protection against the same alleged victim – that time for posting a sex tape to Facebook.
Detective Barbara Tolbert is a Sex Crimes Detective with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. She says, sadly, they’re seeing more and more of these types of cases.
“The world loves the videos and the sexting and things like that. So those are the things that the public is intrigued with. So we have had a big uptick in it. And yes, I cannot count the number of cases that we investigate weekly.”
Just last week, a Lakeland woman was charged with unlawful exposure for allegedly posting nude photos on Facebook of her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend.
Detective Tolbert says there’s a big problem with teens who don’t realize they could be charged with distributing child porn.
“It’s a very serious crime, and there a very long-term consequences. People have to result to counseling, people are hurt, they are harmed and people are embarrassed. This is not anything that is funny.”
And Tolbert says in cases of adults who are in relationships. People should understand that revenge porn is actually a form of domestic violence.
“The sole purpose of domestic violence is power and control over the victim. It’s the same thing with sexual abuse and dissemination of videos or photographs.”
Logan is expected to be back in court next week.
As for those 2015 charges related to violating an order of protection, they were dismissed.
