Man Accused of Using Dating Website to Lure, Rob Victims

(Memphis) Three men using online dating sites were robbed at gunpoint on their first date.

Dejuan McDonald is charged with three felony counts of aggravated robbery.

Police said for the last two months, McDonald went by “Jasmine” on a dating site called Tagged and lured victims to random homes in Orange Mound.

Investigators said McDonald’s girlfriend would stand on the front porch and wave the victim inside. Once they got out of their car, McDonald and his brother would rob them at gunpoint snatching their wallet and cell phone.

One victim said McDonald even took his car.

“Someone has been using our address, and they are telling the people to come here. They are robbing them, and they are going through the cut after they do it,” said a homeowner who wanted to keep her identity hidden.

She says McDonald used her house on Buntyn for one of the robberies. She and her two daughters were asleep when it happened.

“There were police everywhere. I was like what is going on?” said the homeowner.

Police know of at least three victims.

As of now, police have not arrested McDonald’s girlfriend and brother.

McDonald is expected to appear in court on Monday.
