(Memphis) One of two men arrested in connection to officer Martoiya Lang’s shooting appeared in court Monday morning.
Twenty-six year-old Willie Braddock was inside the house on Mendenhall Cove that Lang and Officer William Vrooman raided last Friday.
Braddock is only facing drug charges.
Police say Officer Lang and Officer Vrooman were trying to arrest Braddock when 21-year-old Trevono Campbell began shooting at them and they fired back.
Officer Lang, a mother of four, died at the hospital.
Officer Vrooman was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police say they found Braddock in a bedroom, along with 13 bags of marijuana.
At the time, Braddock was out on bond for an August misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.
He was also charged in June for having drugs and running from police.
Outside the courtroom, he didn’t want to talk about the newest charges or the fatal shooting of Officer Lang.
“I don’t have anything to talk about,” said Braddock.
Treveno Campbell was also scheduled to appear in court Monday, but is still in the hospital being treated for gunshot injuries.
He is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Braddock is charged again with the drug possession.
He was released over the weekend on $40,000 bond. For more news updates from the field follow me on twitter.
