MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Christmas carjacker who police said stole three cars in one day was finally caught.
Police just arrested Jimmy Burns for stealing three cars, holding a family with young kids at gunpoint and kidnapping a woman.
WREG was told he is facing almost 50 counts.
On December 28 last year police said Burns and another man, Charles Johnson, walked up to a home in the 4800 block of Cloister and carjacked a woman sitting in her van with her kids.
The youngest was just two years old.
WREG was told the men forced the family into the front room and then made them help load everything into the van.
Next, police said they carjacked a woman at a Citgo on Elvis Presley.
One man stayed in the van, while another forced the woman into the passenger seat of her car and took off.
They let her out of the car later.
But police said they did not stop there.
Burns and Johnson carjacked one more person outside their home.
Three crimes all in the same night.
Johnson was arrested in January, but police did not pick Burns up until last night.
“Six months. That’s quite a long time, but it just shows that justice has prevailed,” one neighbor said.
Burns’ bond was set at $500,000.
Johnson’s bond was set at $20,000.
