MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police say a man was drunk when he crashed his truck with a 10-year-old child inside.
Brian Lundy was arrested shortly after seven p.m. Monday night.
Lundy’s truck hit a guard rail on Sam Cooper; then it was hit by another car.
Officers said Lundy was slurring his speech and was glassy-eyed.
As Lundy got paperwork from the truck, the officers saw an empty pint bottle of Captain Morgan’s rum.
There was also a bottle of Xanax in the car which had 35 pills missing since it had been filled three days earlier.
Police said Lundy admitted to taking a Xanax three hours earlier and drinking half the bottle of rum earlier in the day.
The child appeared to be fine and was released to the custody of her mother and DCS was called.
Lundy is charged with reckless driving, public intoxication and DUI with child endangerment.
