GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Germantown Police have arrested a man suspected of burglaries that took place in the Poplar Estates neighborhood.

Shortly at 10 p.m. Wednesday, police were called about a stolen bicycle and car from the 1700 block of East Churchill Downs. Responding officers saw a man in dark clothing run through a backyard in the 1600 block of West Churchill Downs, and recovered the bicycle and a pair of stolen gloves nearby.

Officers didn’t find the suspect during a search of the area, but the next morning, police were called about a man sleeping in another person’s car in the 1500 block of West Churchill Downs.

The man ran from the scene, and soon after, police received a call about a man matching the suspect’s description in the Bell Manor and Riverdale area.

Bartlett resident Anthony Hunt, 35, was taken into custody shortly after.

He is charged with three counts of auto burglary, one count of aggravated burglary, evading arrest possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal impersonation and possession of stolen property. Hunt also has an outstanding warrant from Shelby County for aggravated assault.

His bond was set at $350,000. He’s scheduled to appear in court February 18.

“We received several calls during the incident that helped us make the arrest,” Deputy Chief Rodney Bright said.

Germantown police are still looking for the person or persons responsible for several armed robberies.
