MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars, charged with rape of a child.
The victim’s mother told police the suspect, L.C. Tate, was at her home and left the room to make a phone call. She said she became suspicious when he was gone for a while, and she noticed her 9-year-old daughter was missing.
Her daughter didn’t answer when her mom called for her, and the mom told police when her daughter appeared a short time later, the daughter eventually told her Tate made her perform a sex act.
The victim said it happened at least five times this summer.
Police arrested Tate, 29. He has a $150,000 bond.
WREG spoke with Tate last year when we were reporting a story about a man accused of raping and robbing a 17-year-old boy.
“The man shouldn’t even see daylight, meaning not be locked up — like death sentence,” Tate said then. “Don’t know if I can say that or what not. I don’t care, but doing stuff like that, come on man. You don’t deserve life because you don’t respect life.”
