MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local man with a criminal past was convicted on Wednesday for punching and beating his girlfriend with a gun when he couldn’t find his drugs.
Doyan Anderson, 40, could face up to 15 years in prison for the March 2014 incident.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, police were called to a home on Clementine where Anderson’s girlfriend was found with head wounds.
She told them he had gotten angry with her when he couldn’t find his “weed” and began beating her with a handgun.
The victim was treated at the hospital and released.
WREG was told the woman had an order of protection against Anderson at the time of the attack.
Anderson was convicted on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of domestic assault involving bodily injury
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Anderson previously has been convicted on five counts of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
He has a pending case involving aggravated assault and weapon possession.
He was scheduled to be back in court for sentencing on October 26.
