The victim, Akeem Wilkins, 22, was shot multiple times on Eastwind Drive near the crime-ridden Peppertree Apartments. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition but died soon after.

Investigators identified Curtell Chatman, 20, as the gunman.

Chatman was charged with first-degree murder for the shooting.

In a separate incident, he was also charged with domestic assault causing bodily harm.

Chatman is accused of hitting the mother of his children after a verbal altercation on October 8.
