MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Daniel Jefferson is charged with the attempted murder of a Memphis police officer.
Police say Jefferson shot officer Robert Armour in the leg.
Police were looking into a complaint about gang and drug activity at a home on Kirkwood when Jefferson slipped out of the house and Armour and other officers followed him.
Armour, who was treated and released from the hospital, reportedly identified himself and that is when he was shot.
Jefferson,29, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and use of a firearm in a felony.
He has faced more than a charges in the past, ranging from attempted 2nd degree murder to disorderly conduct.
According to court records, Jefferson has also violated probation several times.
