Police: Man charged for shooting suspect after car stolen

MEMPHIS, Tenn. —Authorities have released additional information after located a shooting victim at the Krystal restaurant on Mt. Moriah.

According to police, it all began when their shooting victim stole a 2012 Hyundai Sonata that was left running at the Murphy gas station on Hickory Hill Monday afternoon. As he was driving away, Aundra Jamison, who had borrowed the car from a co-worker, ran after the vehicle on foot, pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the vehicle.

The man who was shot then pulled into the restaurant parking lot and called for help. He was rushed to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities said Jamison admitted to having a gun and firing it at the man, but claimed he didn’t have it anymore. He said after the theft he was able to get a ride from a stranger and the gun must have fallen out of his pocket.  He also did not have a handgun carry permit, was on supervised release for a federal drug charge and was wearing an ankle monitor.

Jamison was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.
