MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man is charged with carjacking a car with a 4-year-old child inside, that happened in March of this year.
Nineteen-year-old Derall Drain was indicted on felony charges of especially aggravated kidnapping and theft of property over 1,000 dollars.
The incident happened at the Hillview Village Apartments on East Alcy Road when the driver reported her 2000 Chevrolet Malibu had been stolen with her young nephew sleeping in the rear seat.
The driver noticed her car being driven away at a high rate speed, chased it briefly on foot and notified police.
The car was found nearby, a short time later.
The 4-year-old child was found unharmed walking in the area of the apartments and reunited with his family.
A witness came forward and identified Dran as the driver.
Derall Dran is being held on a $40,000 bond.
