Man killed in Marks, Mississippi Family Dollar parking lot

MARKS, Miss. — Several law enforcement agencies investigated a fatal shooting at a Family Dollar store on in Marks, Mississippi Saturday afternoon.

The Quitman County Coroner told WREG a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

“They hadn’t been gone a good five minutes before I got the call saying that he had been shot,” Tamma Harris, the mother of the victim, said.

Harris watched as the coroner rolled away with her son’s body.

“I just didn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it,” Harris said.

Family members said Antonio Jackson was shot in the Family Dollar parking lot on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue before 2:00 p.m.

“They heard a lot of gunshots. Pow, pow, pow, pow,” Will Roberson said.

At least five shell casings were marked on the ground from bullets that may have pierced Jackson’s body.

Jackson was taken to Quitman County Hospital where he later died.

He didn’t deserve what he got,” Jackson’s aunt said. “He did not deserve that.”

Jackson’s family admitted he had been in and out of trouble, but the victim had been turning his life around.

“He was just trying to make it,” Harris told WREG.

Jackson left behind two children, ages 6 and 2, and a fiancee.

“He was a good son. He was a good son. He were. And no matter what in this world you don’t have the right to take nobody life,” Harris explained.

Police said they were questioning a man they believed is the shooter.

Jackson’s family is hoping for answers and justice.

At last check no charges had been filed in this case.
