MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated animal cruelty.
On June 23, 2013, investigators determined 29-year-old Brandon Banks broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home on Barkshire near Holmes and Riverdale, then murdered her mother, Rachel Harrington.
He then shot to death the family’s two pit bulls.
Hearing the gunshots, the ex-girlfriend tried to climb out of a window but was caught by Banks.
He then forced her to walk with him to an apartment on Mount Moriah, where he was later arrested at that location.
He was automatically sentenced to life in prison for his crimes.
