(Memphis) “We have been with him since day one,” said Nola Garrison.

Nola Garrison says her son is doing better but has a long way to go. Friday, Cedric will have surgery to get skin grafted on his neck and chest for his third degree burns.

Police say May 31, his ex-girlfriend dumped gasoline on him and then set him on fire. The woman accused, Tamika Jones, still has not been caught.

“We want the police to know we think you are not really looking but you need to get up and look for this person that did my son in,” said Garrison.

Nola says she has actually gone to look for Tamika herself.  She’s circled Tamika’s apartment complex off Airways Blvd and has seen Tamika’s grey Dodge Stratus there and then later has seen the car gone.

“We don`t know if she is driving it but somebody is driving it,” said Garrison.
“There is no ghost in there, I can guarantee you that.”

Nola says friends of her son are offering a $500 reward to anyone that will help police catch Tamika, a woman who has spent more than 20 years on-and-off in a relationship with the victim. She is also the mother of his five children.

Police say she attacked him because she was stressed out over bills and wanted more money from Cedric.

“He just can`t believe she did that to him,” said Garrison.  “He said, “Mamma, why did she do it to me?,”

Nola says her son is now talking, walking and even eating on his own. But even in the hospital, he still lives in fear of the woman who he says set him on fire.

“She need to be caught and brought to justice,” said Garrison.

Family members say Tamika Jones has a total of seven children and they are currently staying with their grandmother while Jones continues to hide from police.
