MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Exclusive video shows the moments after three people were shot at a Hickory Hill bar early Sunday morning.
Memphis Police Officers said the security guard told them a group of people threw bottles at him, so he opened fire.
One of the men who was shot at Vaqueras Y Broncos Bar and Grill said he never attacked the guard with bottles, regardless of the story told to police.
“I just realized he was point me with the gun. He just shoot me,” Humberto Padron Martinez said.
Martinez is recovering at Regional Medical Center.
He said he was leaving from inside of the bar when he heard gunshots.
“I put my hand on my chest and I pulled my hand out. It was with a lot of blood,” Martinez told WREG.
Martinez recalled being handcuffed and dragged to the sidewalk.
“I don’t know how they pulled me outside because everything happened inside of the club,” Martinez said.
The injured man thought he was going to die.
“He was just saying ‘open your eyes, don’t go to sleep. You’re going to make it.’ And I was like ‘ugh — just let me go to sleep and see,'” Martinez remembered.
As he continues his road to recovery, Martinez is looking for answers and justice.
“He just want to make sure that he gets justice because they’re being accused of stuff that wasn’t you know — happened at that moment.”
At last check, the other two people who were shot are still recovering at the hospital as well.
According to the police report, the security guard was detained and his weapon was confiscated.
No charges have been filed.
