MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dontel Morgan is on the run after police said he robbed, raped and beat women at their Hickory Hill homes.
The 27-year-old is wanted for attacking three women at two separate apartment complexes just blocks away from each other.
Sex Crime officers said after a thorough investigation, they positively identified Morgan.
He’s wanted for aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, sexual battery, kidnapping, and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to commit a crime. It’s possible more charges could be filed.
Desiree Woody lives near two of the victims, and told WREG there’s no doubt Morgan is the same guy she saw jiggling her door handle two Saturdays ago.
“I saw him on the patio, so my brother came out and asked, ‘What are you doing?'” said Woody.
Woody said the man got defensive and took off. It wasn’t until the next morning she found out what happened to her neighbors.
According to police, Morgan held a 48-year-old and 22-year-old woman at gunpoint in their Emerald Park Apartments at 1 a.m. on June 21. He then ransacked their home and sexually assaulted them.
A week later, at midnight, a 32-year-old woman, who lives in Ridgeway Terrace Apartments, told police Morgan grabbed her in a stairway, dragged her behind the building and hit her with a handgun before she got away.
While all three woman said they didn’t know the man, others said Morgan hangs out in the area.
“I know of him, but I don’t think he’s that type of person,” said Jonathan Jamison. “Some people are ‘shiesty’ like that. Some females. He might have raped them. He might have not. You never know.”
Morgan has been in trouble before for drug and weapon charges and aggravated burglary, but his case was dropped.
Police were in Emerald Park Apartments Tuesday as neighbors got their first glance at the guy police are looking for.
“You don’t know who is watching. You don’t know if he can be in the bushes. You don’t know where he is at,” said Woody.
MPD said Morgan is known to frequent apartment complexes in the Knight Arnold/Ridgeway and Winchester/Ridgeway areas. He’s 5’7″ and 150 pounds.
