MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man and woman were killed in a shooting at a northeast Memphis apartment Wednesday, police said.

Officers were on the scene at 6029 Summer Trace (Summer Trace Apartments) shortly before 2 p.m.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. A male suspect, or suspects, got away in a sedan driving westbound from the complex on Summer Avenue.

WREG talked with a resident who goes by “Pancho”. He says he saw one of the bodies after walking out of his apartment when police arrived.

“It’s sad that somebody got to lose their life especially around the holidays,” he said, “I don’t know them. I don’t know what he was doing, what they were into, you know, but the situation sad.”

This is at least the second shooting at the Summer Trace Apartments WREG has covered this year. Pancho says he’s starting to fear for the safety of his five young children.

“Sometimes I be thinking like that but, you know, shooting go on everywhere,” he said, “Like I said, I can’t do nothing but pray to God and just let him deal with it and keep our family safe the best way I know how.”
