MEMPHIS, Tenn — A mother is dealing with the pain of losing her daughter who was shot on Christmas Eve in 2023; MPD is searching for the suspect who took her life.
Linda Jones the mother of 43-year-old Laneshia Bledsoe is still experiencing the pain from losing her daughter.
“I got a call from my grandbaby at about 2:50 that morning,” said Jones. “She said ‘Papa, I need you to go over to mommy’s house because my mom has been shot.'”
She rushed to her daughter’s apartment.
“When we got there, they had it roped off, and they were already gone with Neshia in the ambulance,” said Jones.
The mother of four was rushed to Regional One in critical condition.
“I went to the hospital, praying, praying, praying all the way, all the way. When I got there, they wouldn’t let me,” said Jones. “They were working on her, they were working on her, they were working on her.”
Memphis Homicide Investigators weren’t able to tell Jones much about her daughter’s case only that it appeared to be a carjacking.
‘”They said it looked like it was a carjacking, I said I can’t understand how it was a carjacking. They did not take her car, they did not take her keys. She had money on her. They did not take her purse or her money, but she was shot and killed and I’m like, for what?” said Jones.
Detectives say people in the area heard the gunshots but didn’t see the shooter.
“I miss my baby, I miss her so much. I just wish I could tell her one more time how much I love her. I wished I could hold her one more time,” said Jones.
