MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shay Moore remembers the moment she found out her nephew, 18-year-old Kyle Dixon, had been shot.

The nightmare started with a phone call, she says.

“My daughter called me. I was in the bed asleep,” she said. “When she called me, I just jumped up out of my sleep because she was crying and she was like, they killed my cousin.”

Memphis Police say the shooting happened Sept. 23, 2022 in the 4600 block of Tchulahoma Road at County Line Grocery Store. Homicide investigators said when they arrived on the scene, they found Dixon lying in the parking lot of the store with multiple gunshot wounds.

Moore says her cousin was a caring and loving teenager who could light up a room.

She says she saw the surveillance video, and the whole situation was senseless.

“The boy was already in the store standing in line, like he was fixing to buy something. As he seen my nephew walking in, he leaves out of the line like he is leaving out of the door, so I guess words were exchanged and that’s when we see the boy pull out the gun and shoot him,” Moore said.

Moore said that’s when the gunman ran away. When she arrived, she saw crime scene tape and blue lights.

Memphis Homicide investigators released a photo of the shooter. If you recognize him, call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
