Fayette County, Tenn. — Tennessee Highway Patrol Officers are searching for a man who ran into the woods after he was handcuffed during a traffic stop.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Officers received numerous calls of reckless driving from a white SUV in the area.
They soon spotted the car on I-40 near Stanton Road around 3 p.m. on Wednesday and pulled the driver over.
The driver, James Skaggs, was wanted out of Tipton County.
The police handcuffed him for officer safety, but while they were investigating Skaggs bolted into the woods.
Police are still looking for the man now.
WREG spotted officers on Stanton Road asking truckers and gas station workers if they had seen Skaggs.
No one was able to provide any leads.
THP said Skaggs is not armed but considering his warrants and how desperate he is, they consider him to be dangerous.
