MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After accusations of stealing signs and one candidate doing jail time, the District 95 race is over with Mark Lovell defeating incumbent Curry Todd.

It was certainly a wild race with Lovell accusing Rep. Todd of stealing his signs, and then Todd ending up in jail because of it.

And an ending of Lovell paying his bail.

Thursday, Lovell took 54 percent of the votes compared to Todd with less than 20 percent.

At his viewing party, Lovell said it was harder than he thought it’d be to run but that he ran to win and focused on his own race.

“(Rep. Todd) shouldn’t have been worrying about me so much. I mean he was in office for 18 years, you’d think he’d pull out his list of things he accomplished and not worry about pulling my signs up,” said Lovell.

We were originally told Rep. Todd would speak with us following the elections win or lose, but now that the results are in he said he’s no longer available.

His campaign sent us a statement instead, that said in part, “He simply wants to thank all his supporters.”
