HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — The search has been called off for a Marshall County homicide suspect who went missing after police say he took off his ankle monitor.
The Holly Springs Police Department confirmed that they are no longer looking Antonio Sims Jr although he is still missing.
Authorities began looking for Sims after he took off his court ordered ankle monitor three days ago. He was briefly spotted in Holly Springs yesterday, but he got away.
17-year-old Sims was out on bond for the May 2017 homicide of a Holly Springs, MS man when he took off.
Holly Springs Police Chief Dwight Harris told WREG that authorities believe Sims possibly had something to do with helping fellow inmate Antoine Adams escape from the Marshall County Jail a few weeks ago.
Sims was spotted in the area around 12:30 p.m. today, and that is when authorities locked down all schools in Holly Springs so that they could effectively search for him.
Both the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department participated in searching for Sims.
This is an ongoing investigation. We will update you as more information becomes available.
