MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A MATA bus drove off Union Avenue and into a retaining wall surrounding a Kroger store around 8 Monday night.
The bus just missed hitting the Midtown store. Police reported no major injuries, but the scene blocked two lanes of traffic.
The driver told police the crash came after a woman hit him with her fist while he was driving.
Officers said they found the woman inside the Kroger. When confronted, she allegedly told them she’d hit the driver because he gave her a “hard time” about paying her fare with pennies.
