JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has canceled an Amber Alert for a 12-year-old from Pearl, but the search remains ongoing for the man accused of kidnapping her.
According to local reports, Chryslance Nicole Walters was dropped off at her home on Sweetgum Street several hours after she disappeared. The suspect, 42-year-old Johnny Jones, is still at large.
Authorities said Jones is dating Walters’ mother.
The two went missing around 6 a.m. Tuesday and subsequently seen on Highway 468 traveling towards Interstate 20 near Jackson, Mississippi.
Jones is believed to still be traveling in a black 2006 Chrysler 300 with MS tags RGT 700.
Pearl police said Jones is wanted for kidnapping, motor vehicle theft and for violating his probation. He has a history of armed robbery and fleeing charges.
